I grew up in the Midwest, received my Psychology B.A. from Denver University and Doctor of Psychology degree in Berkeley, CA. During my postdoctoral internship in San Antonio, I enjoyed Texas so much, I put down permanent roots and have called Austin home for 26 years. I enjoy the diverse urban vibe of Austin, but also enjoy getting back to nature by hiking, biking and swimming. I believe nutrition, fitness and mindfulness are vital to overall wellness and try to incorporate those goals into treatment. Moreover, just as solitude is necessary for creativity, I believe that being socially active and giving back to the greater community is an important practice as well.
I have extensive experience with most all conditions and treatments. I have consulted with post-hospital physical therapy units, geriatric clients and their caregivers, addiction treatment centers and clients ranging in age from preschool to 100 plus. I am currently accepting adult individual clients with a focus on personal, family and work relationships, employment stress, mood issues including depression and anxiety, addictive behaviors, fitness, nutrition and health.
I draw from a variety of treatment techniques appropriate to each condition including cognitive, mindfulness, integrative, psycho-dynamic and humanistic therapies. When psychotherapy is not warranted, I refer to and consult with appropriate health care providers including psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, physicians, treatment centers, nutritionists, physical trainers, educational and religious affiliations.
